Conrad (1926) - Le vagabond bleu

Conrad (1926) - Le vagabond bleu

Perfect condition Conrad was born in 1926, in Hanoi. He has been painting since 1954, after meeting artists such as Soulages, Manessier, Le Moal, Singier, Ubac, or the American Koenig. He indeed met these painters when he was tasked with creating the “Comité du Vitrail français” with the sponsorship of François Matthey, curator of the Arts Décoratifs and Jacques Dorival, curator of the Musée d’Art Moderne. For a very long time, Conrad refused to show his work to the public. It was only in 1999 that he agreed to his first exhibition; his abstract, luminous painting immediately met with public success. Since then, his work has been collected in Paris, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and throughout Europe. Conrad is a contemporary painter related to the lyrical abstraction movement. Conrad’s painting is still and always inspired by the earth, the sea, the infinitesimal, the views of the sky, transcribed through matter, color, and always light. For Conrad, the most important thing in a canvas, beyond its style or harmony, is what it hides. What is hidden resembles truth, whether it lies in the depths of the heart, in the secrets of life, or in the veiled light of a wholly human transcendence. In his creative process, the artist begins to paint without prejudice, without preconceived ideas. It is only after he has put on his final touch that he gives a name to his painting.
