All auctions / Miscellaneous / Console table - Wall console - Plaster - A gilded wall console

This object is a gold-colored wall console (also known as a wall shelf or repisa) in the graceful Rococo- or Baroque-style. Such vintage elements were traditionally used as decorative wall supports for, for example, a small statuette, a vase, a candelabrum, or a religious saint statue. This specific type is made of plaster. The console is with near certainty probably made in the period 1960–1970. In these decades (partly falling under the Hollywood Regency design trend) the casting of plaster wall ornaments, mirror frames and consoles in Baroque style was enormously popular in Western Europe. Dimensions: 13 cm high by 13 cm wide and 9 cm deep. Weight: 780 grams. Carefully packed, sent by registered mail and insured shipping. Not shipped to the United States.
