Contemporary Hindu Brass Deity Holding Stacked Stones

Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. 20th to 21st century CE. This brass sculpture presents a contemplative Hindu-inspired deity seated on a lotus pedestal, holding a fan in one hand and a stack of balanced stones in the raised hand, with the face turned, a combination of attributes and posture that does not align with canonical iconography of ancient devotional sculpture and instead suggests a contemporary decorative reinterpretation. The inclusion of stacked stones references modern stone balancing practices, often associated with mindfulness and meditation, which draw loosely from ancient cairn traditions used as path markers or memorials and from Japanese Buddhist and Shinto cultural contexts. Size: 4" W x 7.75" H (10.2 cm x 19.7 cm); 8.75" H (22.2 cm) on included custom stand. Item # 200202
