Contemporary Spanish School (c. 1990) - Summer with the Family

- Oil on canvas. Original canvas. - Behold the definitive altarpiece of Iberian summer opulence: an exercise in terrace high sociology where the patriarch, stranded in his folding chair with the impudent solemnity of a Caesar in a polka-dot slip, presides the table in pure torso, consecrated to the noble art of physical abandonment and the summer digestion. At his side, the matriarch compresses her resignation in a blue old-fashioned one-piece, wearing that universal rictus of a grandmother scorched by the sun, humiliation, and the certainty that on the beach floor another round of fritanga awaits; between them, the amorphous mass of children and relatives lurks in the background like a latent threat of noise, melted ice creams, and ill-timed requests. Everything in the painting—from the green Formica of the table to the plastic cup where some lukewarm elixir languishes—exudes that unbearable yet endearing chiringuito prosody: the constant clatter of plates, the crunch of sand under flip-flops, and the crowded human mass under the sun. A claustrophobic and unabashed microcosm that perfectly synthesizes the ritual Calvary of August in Spain, that joyous doom in which we set out to survive, squeezed and naked, alongside our ever “beloved” family. - Unframed image dimensions: 38 x 47 cm / 44 x 54 cm with exclusive custom frame. At Montbaron Gallery, we are pleased to offer our clients an exclusive selection of artworks, all of them unique, original and unrepeatable. Certain lots, due to their age and value, require an export permit issued by the Ministry of Culture. While this is an administrative procedure, it is essential to ensure the authenticity of the work and its free movement internationally. Montbaron Gallery commits to offering clients original, unique and unrepeatable artworks, guaranteeing the authenticity and quality of each piece in our collection. To ensure transparency and trust in every purchase, we offer a digital Certificate of Guarantee, signed by a certified art historian. This certificate verifies that the acquired work has been authenticated by our specialists, who verify its authorship, origin and state of conservation. The Certificate of Guarantee includes complete details about the piece, such as its author, creation date, technique used, and dimensions. The digital Certificate of Guarantee will be issued upon the client's request, providing an official reference for the acquired piece. This document will be sent in digital format and signed by an art historian from our gallery, ensuring its validity and backing. We are committed to our clients’ satisfaction and confidence, so any questions about authenticity or the condition of the work will be addressed professionally and promptly. To request your Certificate of Guarantee, please contact us through our usual channels. Our goal is to offer the best possible service, tailoring to each client’s needs and ensuring the artwork arrives at its destination quickly and safely, with no surprises.
