It records, classifies, and lists page by page all major image series, etchings, and illustrated volumes that deal with French military uniforms (and foreign ones published in France) – from the reign of King Louis XV to the end of the 19th century. • The edition: The rare first edition in large octavo format (8vo) includes a frontispiece designed by the famous French military painter Job (Jacques Onfroy de Bréville) and in total 4 to 5 hand-colored plates. These show historical figures such as the Tambour-Major of the Swiss Guards under Louis XVI or an Officier de Chasseurs of 1808. Condition: light signs of wear on the binding, inside: clean and with a firm binding.
