Credenza - Burr walnut - Art Deco (1920-1930)

Elegant Italian sideboard from the 1920s in Art Deco style, characterized by a rectangular, symmetrical outline and supported on feet shaped like a bridge or a mustache, entirely in walnut burl with warm, figured grain enclosed in a wood frame stained black or ebonized. It comprises two hinged side doors and a central block with four handcrafted drawers stacked with a dovetail joint, a classic woodworking technique that guarantees very high structural solidity without the use of nails or screws. The piece shows original period finishes, with coordinated metal handles and a surface that could benefit from conservative restoration. The original key for the locks is no longer present. Overall it remains in good original condition. It shows normal signs of time and age on the surface finish, which attest to its authenticity and enhance its charm. The structure is solid and stable, the drawers slide properly and the doors are functional. It can be placed directly in a room as is, or subjected to a light spirit varnish (shellac) polishing to restore the maximum original brilliance of the burl wood.
