Crocodile, Lobi, Burkina Faso, 19th-20th centuries

Descriptio Wrought iron. Dimensions: 81 cm in length. Zoomorphic piece made of wrought iron, conceived as a stylized representation of a crocodile. The body is elongated, with a pronounced central line and stylized limbs, while the head features raised eyes and simplified features. The piece displays a strong formal synthesis and a handcrafted execution characteristic of the region’s metalworking tradition. The surface retains a dark patina, oxidation, and irregularities typical of worked iron and its age. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
