Cupboard - Oak

Light and rare (Utrecht) tallboy cabinet. So small is seldom seen: 88 cm high. First half of the 17th century, some restorations and adjustments Inside authentically painted in a green color. With paint made from pigment and stand oil. This cabinet has never had a lock but a small brass latch. Originally it had long wrought iron hooks, which have been replaced later. -see detail photo- Deep cannelures in the side stiles, these run down to the ground as feet. That is early 17th century, only after 1650 did ball feet come into fashion. Quarter-sawn oak, thus we see those 'flames' in the panel. Bids below the limit will not be honored.
