Origin / Provenance: Samar, Philippines (with exact locality data) Description: For sale is an exceptionally large and flawless prize specimen of the “Bat volute snail” (Cymbiola vespertilio). With a notable length of 8.9 cm, this shell already belongs to the Giant Size forms of this species, which on average usually reach only 5 to 7 cm. The shell features an extremely high-contrast, zigzag patterning in characteristic brown and beige tones on a light background. The pronounced, bat-like shoulder spines (spine development) are perfectly formed and show no damage. The aperture is glossy and flawless. A scientifically valuable collection piece in rare cabinet-size with precise provenance from Samar Island, Philippines.
