Original production set – Le Château du Parking – Cabu / Vincent Monluc – 1987 Celluloids from the animated short Le Château du Parking, directed by Vincent Monluc from drawings and the graphic universe of the cartoonist Cabu. The lot includes an original set as well as three original hand-painted animation cels, corresponding to the different elements of the scene: 1 original background; 1 cel representing the dog; 1 cel representing the shopping cart; 1 cel representing Dorothée, caricature of the famous television host, drawn in Cabu's characteristic style. The different elements are intended to be overlaid to compose the final image of the animation. The scene shows Dorothée in a supermarket, pushing a shopping cart, with the dog present in the scene. The caricature of Dorothée is particularly recognizable by its graphical treatment and its famous elongated nose, characteristic of Cabu's caricatures. This ensemble is of particular interest because it is not a single cel: the original background is preserved with the three animation elements allowing the scene to be reconstituted. The film Le Château du Parking constitutes an original testament to the meeting between the world of animation, Cabu's satirical drawing, and 1980s youth television culture. The presence of Dorothée, then an iconic figure of youth television and Récré A2, adds an extra dimension to this set and makes it a particularly evocative piece of French popular culture from that period. The elements are unframed and are presented in their original state of conservation. Origin: France
