Nourse, et al, 1770-71, half-titles, volume I with engraved folding map frontispiece, volume II title-page discarded, collating: xxx, [ii], 204, [3] (errata), [1] (blank), 21, [3] (chronological bibliography), 24; [iv], 124, 20, [60]pp, illustrated with 4 folding engraved charts and 12 engraved plates, some of which are folding, Chart of the South Pacific Ocean with clean 4cm long close tear, its fore and top margins with a slightly overhanging creased fold, but not affecting within the platemark, contemporary speckled calf over boards, morocco lettering piece, upper-cover split, but holding fast, rubbed in places, red speckled edges, marbled endpapers, 4to, [Cook A11-12; Hill (2004) 410] Provenance: 1) the Seymour family, Marquesses of Hertford; second-half 19th c Ragley Hall library bookplate. Until sold by 2) ?Christie, Manson & Woods, Valuable Books, Being a Portion of the Library the Property of the Fifth Marquess of Hertford, Deceased [...] and removed from Ragley Hall, Warwickshire, 23rd May, 1938.
