David Bowie - David Bowie (UK/EU) – 40th ANNIVERSARY...

A highly collectible 40th Anniversary Limited Edition of David Bowie's landmark 1969 album, issued by EMI in 2009 under catalogue number 50999-307530-1-3. This special reissue was produced on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl and designed to closely reproduce the appearance of the original 1969 Philips release, restoring the album to its original self-titled presentation by removing the later "Space Oddity" title from the front cover. Musically, this album marks one of the most important turning points in Bowie's career. Compared with his 1967 debut, the songwriting had developed dramatically, combining folk, psychedelia, progressive elements and ambitious studio arrangements. The album opens with the immortal "Space Oddity"—produced by Gus Dudgeon—and continues with key early Bowie compositions including "Unwashed and Somewhat Slightly Dazed," "Letter to Hermione," "Cygnet Committee," "Janine," "The Wild Eyed Boy from Freecloud" and "Memory of a Free Festival." This copy is particularly attractive because it retains the complete original components issued with the anniversary edition: the printed inner sleeve, large poster, and the hype sticker remains attached to the cover. ⸻ Sleeve (EX): The gatefold sleeve remains in Excellent condition, very clean and attractive overall. Light corner wear is visible, consistent with careful handling, but no major distracting damage. The cover retains its hype sticker intact. The poster and original printed inner sleeve are both present and well preserved → EX Vinyl (NM): The vinyl is in superb Near Mint condition, retaining an excellent deep gloss with extremely little evidence of previous play or handling. Playback is pristine throughout → NM ⸻ Details * UK/Europe 40th Anniversary Limited Edition * EMI catalogue number 50999-307530-1-3 * DBSOLP 40 * 180-gram heavyweight vinyl * Remastered reissue * Original-style gatefold artwork * Original printed inner sleeve included * Original poster included * Hype sticker retained on cover * 2009 reissue
