David Law - Multiplicity II

ew series – Multiplicity David Law Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops a body of work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series dedicated to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continued this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection. New series – Multiplicity Multiplicity explores the multiplication of a female silhouette to infinity. Repeated, superimposed and absorbed by backlighting, the figures become a moving graphic material. Faces disappear, leaving only bodies, shadows and lines. A hypnotic vision where the individual transforms into a multitude.
