100% Chenin Blanc Wine of Origin: Swartland Winemaker: David Sadie Two adjacent vineyards, Plat’bos (granite) and Skaliekop (lateral shale), are both situated in the Paardeberg and registered as single vineyards. These dry-land farmed bush vines were planted in 1981 and 1985 respectively. We farm the soils biologically which includes the making and adding of our own compost, mulching around the vines and cover crop planting before the winter which are rolled flat with a crimper prior to budding in Spring. Swartland is a coastal region and although we are located 55 kilometres away from the West Coast, the predominant South-Easter wind causes evaporation against which we farm to retain moisture in our marginal soils. Our vineyards are sprayed organically and harvested on multiple dates to obtain freshness, tension, salinity and age-worthiness. Made as pure as possible and aged in older barrels before being blended and bottled. Tasting Notes: Focused on tension, length and salinity. Ready for drinking in 5 to 10 years and will age 10 to 15+ years.
