Museum-grade dog collar likely for a Poodle (Poodle). What later became a fashion phenomenon was originally pure necessity for hunting. The lion trim had the advantage that the hindquarters wouldn’t become heavy when swimming, and the hair around the chest kept the heart warm. The tufts to protect the boats against the sharp reeds and the plume on its tail ensured it was visible in tall grass or reeds. Very rare museum-style collar with a small box featuring an ornament of an angel riding a dog. Thus the collar bears depictions of a lion-trimmed Poodle with initials and is cut in openwork and engraved.
