Decorative ornament - Europe - Brass astray/oak stand

Title: Art Deco Style Heavy Brass Ashtray on Oak Stand – Hand-Engraved "Bronze" – 61cm Tall, 2.6kg Object: Vintage / Antique Standing Ashtray Style: Art Deco / Mid-Century Materials: Cast Brass (marked "Bronze"), Turned Oak Dimensions: Total Height: 61 cm Weight: Total 2,618 g (Metal bowl: 1,254 g / Wooden stand: 1,364 g) Description: Offered for auction is a striking, heavy vintage standing ashtray. This is a substantial piece, weighing over 2.6 kilograms combined, making it very stable and functional. The piece features a solid cast brass bowl with the classic notches for resting cigarettes or cigars. It features a decorative stylized handle, which appears to be shaped like a bird or ram's head. The metal has a lovely warm golden tone with a natural patina consistent with its age. The base is made of solid oak wood. It features a beautiful twisted "barley sugar" turned column and sits on a stepped, square pedestal base. The top of the wooden stand has a circular indentation where the metal bowl sits. A Note on the Maker's Mark: On the underside of the metal bowl, the word "Bronze" is hand-engraved in italics. It is important to note that the engraving is slightly irregular and the letters are not perfectly uniform, suggesting it was hand-stamped or engraved by an artisan in a smaller workshop rather than mass-produced. As is common with pieces from this era (circa 1920s–1950s), the term "Bronze" was often used loosely as a marketing term for high-quality, heavy cast brass. Condition: The piece is in good vintage condition. The metal shows expected surface wear, tarnish, and patina consistent with age. The wooden stand is sturdy and solid, with some minor surface marks. Please refer to the photos for a detailed view of the condition, especially the close-up of the hand-engraved mark, as pictures are part of the description. Shipping: Due to the significant weight (over 2.6 kg), this item will be carefully packed and shipped with a tracked and insured courier service.
