Stunning pair of red abalone & red maligano jasper sphere on custom stands. Red abalone (Haliotis rufescens) is a species of large, edible sea snail, commonly found along the Pacific coast of North America, from Baja California to Alaska.Red abalone has a distinctive oval-shaped shell with a vibrant red to pinkish-red interior, which gives it its name. They are typically found in rocky coastal areas, clinging to rocks or submerged in shallow waters up to depths of about 30 meters (100 feet). Maligano jasper is a specific type of jasper found in Indonesia and forms in ancient volcanic hot spring areas. Maligano is known for its contrasting warm hues on blues and greys with fantastic brecciated, or broken and healed, patterns plus its fun dendrite patterns, making the stone often show river scenes with little bushes aside a babbling brook.
