All auctions / Jewellery & Gems / Delicate Earrings with Onyx and Antique Diamond Roses in Silver and

Black and white, light and shadow, day and night—contrasts like these have been a part of the history of jewelry for centuries. Their captivating interplay was particularly popular during the Art Deco period, but even the goldsmiths of the Empire era knew how to create extraordinary elegance from the “non-colors” of black and white. This timeless combination also inspired us to create the earrings presented here. Time and again, on our wanderings through antique shops, auction houses, and flea markets, we come across individual settings or fragments of historical pieces of jewellery. Taken on their own, they have lost their original purpose. Yet their craftsmanship and beauty remain. We bring these little treasures back to our workshop to give them a new lease on life. At the heart of this design are antique diamonds that have been preserved to this day in their original teardrop-shaped gold and silver settings. The stones, cut at the end of the 19th century and weighing a total of approximately 0.38 carats, form the starting point of the composition. Below them, freely moving pendants made of deep black onyx sway, their mirror-like sheen creating a captivating contrast to the lively sparkle of the diamonds. Simple yellow gold ear hooks complete the design, allowing the historic settings to appear understated. The result is a pair of earrings that harmoniously blends opposites: black and white, light and shadow, past and present. Vintage diamonds continue to tell their story—in a design created today.
