(◊) DENMARK. Ducat, 1758-A/VH. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik V. PCGS MS-61.

(◊) DENMARK. Ducat, 1758-A/VH. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik V. PCGS MS-61. Fr-261; KM-588; Hede-21; Sieg-42; Schou-1. Weight: 3.46 gms. Mintmaster: Peter Nicolai van Hauen (VH). Engraver: Magnus Gustavus Arbien (A). Beautiful one-year type which is presumed to be the only Danish Ducat struck from gold mined in Norway. Sharp uncirculated example with great luster. Of the original mintage of 1,001 coins, 700 were immediately re-issued as Ducat Courants. With a gold content of c. 20% less, these were both more practical for circulation and more profitable for the king. The elegant, allegorical reverse design shows the Danish arms resting on the Eben-Ezer (Stone of Help) from the Book of 1 Samuel 7:12. Estimate: €2,500 - €3,500.
