DENMARK. Penny, ND (1047-75). Lund Mint. Svend II Estridsen. NGC Unc

Exceptionally Lustrous and Highly Interesting DENMARK. Penny, ND (1047-75). Lund Mint. Svend II Estridsen. NGC Unc Details--Peck Marked. Hauberg-32a; Hauberg Collection-1045; Moltke-246 (plate coin); Bruun-1866 (illustrated plate 8). Weight: 1.05 gms. Moneyer: Azur Jutska. Exceptionally lustrous and meticulously struck. Of the roughly 70 different moneyer names known from Danish runic coins, nearly all are either purely Anglo-Saxon or must, for linguistic reasons, be attributed to the Danelaw. Consequently, this particular coin stands out not only due to the proper name "Asser" itself, but especially because of the accompanying byname "jyske" (Jutlandic), which serves to emphasize that the person responsible for this coin was Danish. Estimate: €3,000 - €4,000. Provenance: From the L.E. Bruun Collection. Ex: Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922). To view supplemental information and all items from the L.E. Bruun Collection, click here. Please note: Bid amounts do not include VAT. Buyers which are non-VAT registered entities or individuals who take delivery of lots within EU countries subject to margin scheme taxation will be invoiced a VAT charge and a Buyer’s Premium for a total of 27.5% based upon the total amount of the hammer. Please see the Terms and Conditions. Click here for certification details from NGC.
