DENMARK. Silver Trial Mark, 1713. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik IV. NGC VF-20. KM-506 (reverse); Hede-46 (reverse); Sieg-14 (reverse); Schou-3; Bruun-7398. Mintmaster: Christian Wineke, the Younger (CW). Unique and of the utmost numismatic interest. This striking is among the absolute most curious in the entire L. E. Bruun Collection. The reverse is also known to have been used for the pattern Mark, Hede-46, KM-506, which was never placed into production because, pursuant to the decree of 16 September 1713, the denomination was altered to XVI Skilling. This specimen is presumably a first trial struck before a corresponding obverse die had been engraved, which is why an available hub for a potential Ducat die seems to have been utilized instead. Estimate: €5,000 - €7,000. Provenance: From the L.E. Bruun Collection. Ex: H. H. J. Lynge Collection (Copenhagen - 1899) Lot # 1937. To view supplemental information and all items from the L.E. Buyers which are non-VAT registered entities or individuals who take delivery of lots within EU countries subject to margin scheme taxation will be invoiced a VAT charge and a Buyer’s Premium for a total of 27.5% based upon the total amount of the hammer.
