(◊) DENMARK. Skilling, 1771. Copenhagen Mint. Christian VII. PCGS VF-25. KM-616.1; Hede-37; Sieg-2.1. An amazing and dramatic double strike error where the second strike is 50% off-center. The 1771 Skilling was minted with the same date from 1771 to 1786. More than 54 million Skillings were struck, making it the most common Danish coin, only surpassed in 1979 by the 10 Kroner coin. The coins were struck in Copenhagen, in Kongsberg, Norway, and in Altona in the Duchies. The huge emission led to many variations and errors, all of which are sought by collectors. A striking error as bold as this is extremely rare, and the condition of this coin is well above average for the type. Estimate: €300 - €400.
