Der Löwenbändiger Herr Bathy-Cooper - 1865

Tamers. - The lion tamer Mr. Bathy-Cooper will perform with six trained lions in a magnificent cage. The performances of the lions are of the most astonishing kind. Through his superhuman feats and evident boldness, he compels the wild inhabitants of the desert to lie down at the flash of his eagle eye and to leap about. All performances are carried out by him with rare courage, and in a word, a single glance from this lion tamer makes him the master and earns him submission and reverence from these wild beasts. - Ernst Renz, Director. (Frankfurt), R. Baist Printing House, ca. 1865. Poster on blue paper, at the top with a large woodcut illustration. Sheet size: 43 x 59 cm. Besides Bathy-Cooper, there were also 'power productions', gymnasts, and some horse acts to be seen. The woodcut shows one such.
