Derek & The Dominos - Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs...

A very attractive 1979 Japanese pressing of Derek & The Dominos' legendary double album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, issued on RSO under catalogue number MWX 9956/7. This Japanese edition represents a distinct and sought-after variant, released in a gatefold sleeve with the original OBI strip intact—a feature that significantly enhances its collector appeal and presentation. The album itself, originally released in 1970, stands as one of the defining blues-rock records of its era and remains the sole studio album by Derek & The Dominos. The record is built around the extraordinary guitar partnership of Eric Clapton and Duane Allman, whose interplay gives the album much of its distinctive character and sonic identity. The classic line-up also includes Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle and Jim Gordon. Across four sides, the album encompasses an exceptional run of tracks including "Bell Bottom Blues," "Keep On Growing," "Key To The Highway," "Tell The Truth," "Have You Ever Loved A Woman," "Little Wing" and the monumental title track "Layla." The 1979 Japanese MWX 9956/7 edition carries a documented ¥3,000 retail price and features dedicated Japanese matrix numbers across all four sides, making it a distinctly regional and collectible variant. ⸻ Sleeve (EX): The original gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition, remaining very solid, clean and attractive with only minimal age-related handling or storage wear. The surviving OBI strip adds considerably to the presentation and collector appeal. Vinyl (EX): Both records retain a very nice original shine and present strongly overall. There is some light surface haziness, but no major distracting wear, and the records remain very clean examples. Overall a strong EX double set. ⸻ Details * Japan 1979 pressing * RSO MWX 9956/7 * Double LP * Original gatefold sleeve * Original OBI included * Japanese insert not included * JASRAC * ¥3,000 retail issue * Dedicated Japanese matrix numbers across all four sides
