All auctions / Carpets, Rugs & Textile / Designer Carpet - Ziegler - Farahan - New - Rug - 296 cm - 207 cm
This hand-knotted designer rug from Pakistan interprets the traditional Ziegler Farahan pattern in a restrained, elegantly aged-looking color scheme. The finely distributed floral ornaments and the warm base color give the rug an elegant character without visually overpowering the room. The generous inner field is designed with numerous stylized flowers, palmettes and floral motifs that spread in a balanced, nearly symmetrical arrangement over the entire surface. A dominant central medallion is deliberately omitted. This creates a calm all-over design that integrates particularly flexibly into different interior concepts. The wide main border picks up the floral design of the inner field and frames the rug harmoniously. Several narrow side borders with small geometric and floral elements add depth and emphasize the intricate handcrafted craftsmanship. Color-wise warm browns, taupe and terracotta tones dominate. Accents in turquoise, petrol, blue, light pink, green, cream and ocher enliven the restrained base. The heathered surface creates an attractive vintage charm and makes the individual ornaments softly merge with the background.
