Fossil. An Abelisaurid dinosaur tooth. Fossil: This perfectly preserved very large tooth comes from a theropod of the Abelisaurid group, a group of carnivorous dinosaurs. They were recognizable by their extremely small forelimbs, short, deep snouts, small sharp teeth, and strong muscular hind limbs. This tooth comes from a yet undescribed Abelisaurid species from the Kem Kem Beds of Morocco. So far, probably only two Abelisaurid species have been found in Morocco’s Kem Kem Beds. An Abelisaurid (Rugops primus) was named after the Echkar Formation in Niger. Period: Cretaceous, Cenomanian, about 100 million years ago This tooth bears a very sharp fine serration along both edges.
