Dirck de Vries (act. 1590-1612), Follower of - Mercato del pesce

Painting inspired by the Dutch Dirck de Vries. A key figure in the Venetian art scene at the turn of the two centuries, famous for having brought to the lagoon the Nordic tradition (in the wake of Joachim Beuckelaer and Pieter Aertsen) of genre painting linked to markets, kitchens and street vendors; he can be placed specifically during the artist's long Venetian sojourn (documented roughly between 1590 and 1612), a period in which de Vries painted numerous scenes inspired by the daily life of the Rialto market. The frame in the photo is sold with the painting. Antique frame cm 80 x 94
