All auctions / Miscellaneous / Display case - Bronze - Louis XV
Refined sobremesa exhibitor made in gilded bronze during the 19th century, designed following the elegant ornamental repertoire of the Louis XV style, whose rococo grace was widely reinterpretated by the French historicist manufactories of the period. Intended for displaying photographs, miniatures, porcelains, devotional books or small collectible objects, it combines visual lightness with decorative richness in a piece of notable ornamental quality. The structure presents a stylized, open silhouette, crowned by an abundantly pierced top where winding scrolls, rocaille, and delicate vegetal motifs unfold. The side uprights, finely molded, descend to a base of great formal movement, enriched with exuberant intertwined volutes, asymmetric cartouches and floral garlands that evidence the influence of French rococo taste. The decoration is articulated through refined casting and chasing work that recreates the ornamental language of the 18th century, though reinterpreted under the historicist sensibility of the 19th century. The garlands, leaves and floral motifs combine with curves and counter-curves characteristic of the Louis XV style, imparting a sense of dynamism and elegance that makes the piece a genuine decorative element in itself. The warm tone of the gilded bronze highlights the play of light on the reliefs, accentuating the richness of the details and the depth of the ornamental motifs. It is a display stand for hanging or placing on a table, though it would require a rear support. Representative of 19th-century French decorative taste, this display stand constitutes a magnificent example of productions inspired by the Louis XV style that adorned salons, boudoirs and bourgeois display cabinets. Beyond its practical function, it stands out as an elegant piece of decorative arts capable of enhancing any object on display and lending the ensemble the aristocratic charm and sophisticated refinement of the French Rococo tradition. Certified shipment and good packaging.
