Door (2) - 1970-1980 - 2 x Rare Mid-Century Solid...

2 x Rare Mid Century Solid Abstract Brutalist Bronze Front Door Handle By Alpan Germany For auction comes an impressive pair of massive, heavy door handles (shock handles) in the striking Brutalist design of post-war modernism. The handles captivate with their expressive, organically coarse surface texture (relief) on the front, reminiscent of cooled lava or bark structures, paired with a beautiful, authentic patina (greenish nuances). Unlike many models from this era, here the complete rear mounting hardware and bracket are made of solid brass, which makes the handles particularly durable, noble, and weather-resistant. On the inside there is an embossed manufacturer mark (casting stamp with a geometric logo) as well as a model number (the digit combination 5161 is recognizable). A rare opportunity for collectors of architectural highlights of Mid-Century design.
