This object is a classic copper or brass ring door knocker (often referred to as a ring knocker or heurtoir) produced in a traditional or rustic style. The door knocker is characterized by a twisted ring (a so-called rope or twist motif) that is hung on a decorative, diamond-shaped mounting plate with relief.
