All auctions / Jewellery & Gems / Double "Bow" necklace by Niessing in yellow gold, Vreden circa 2000

The Niessing manufactory from Vreden near Düsseldorf is one of the best-known German jewellery houses. The style of the designs is based on the reduced aesthetics of the Bauhaus: Clear lines are combined with the best craftsmanship. All pieces of jewellery are still made by hand in the Lower Rhine region. Here is an iconic design from the house, a double necklace from the Bow series. The basic idea behind the design could not be simpler: a flexible band of gold or platinum rests on the décolleté. Our piece is made from high-carat yellow gold and matted by hand. Its colour is deep, but without a hard shine thanks to the matt finish. The necklace looks calm. We were reminded of ancient Greek classicism. Only the movement of the wearer brings the necklace to life: The necklace is so calm and elegant at the same time and yet also has a playful touch. The double necklace is the largest piece in the series. The clasp is a securely holding, almost invisible clasp. We discovered the necklace here in Berlin as part of a collection of high-quality modern artist's jewellery.
