All auctions / Asian Art / Double ritual bell. Bamileke people, Cameroon. 20th century

Descriptio Iron. Dimensions: 49 × 46 × 11 cm. Double-bodied ritual bell forged from iron, used in ceremonial, musical, and communicative contexts within the Bamileke culture. This type of bell accompanied rituals, dances, and acts of authority, functioning both as a sound instrument and as a symbol of status and power. The patina of use and the remains of polychrome decoration demonstrate its continued use and its integration into the ritual life of the community. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
