This late 19th century oval earthenware dish was produced by the Doulton Lambeth factory in London. The obverse features a hand painted pastoral scene depicting two young girls walking along a sunlit dirt path. One girl is shown wearing a blue bodice and a tan skirt while carrying a basket, accompanied by a smaller child in a white top and blue skirt. The figures are set against a background of mature trees and woodland foliage. The reverse of the dish is finished with a blue and white sponged or spatter glaze. The underside bears the impressed mark DOULTON LAMBETH within the foot rim. To the left of the impressed mark is a hand painted blue artist monogram, attributed to Linnie Watt, who was a noted decorator for Doulton known for depicting children in rural landscapes.
