Duitse Art Deco koekdoos / gebäckdose – keramiek met Spritzdekor – ca

German Art Deco cookie tin / biscuit box – ceramic with Spritzdekor – ca. 1925–1935 Beautiful and distinctive German Art Deco storage box / cookie tin from the 1920s–1930s, executed in glazed ceramic and equipped with a metal mount, hinged lid, closure, and characteristic carrying handle. The cream‑white ceramic base is decorated around the sides with an attractive yellow and wine-red stylized flower and leaf motif. The lid is also executed in bold yellow and pinkish-red hues. The decoration bears the characteristics of the so‑called Spritzdekor: decorations in which color was applied to ceramic using stencils and spraying. This technique experienced a blooming period especially from the late 1920s within German Art Deco and Bauhaus‑inspired ceramics. The Bröhan Museum describes the period from about 1927 as the heyday of such German Spritzdekor ceramics. Similar German ceramic cookie and cake boxes from the twenties and thirties were paired with nickel-plated hardware, a hinged lid, and a carrying handle—the exact type of construction we also see in this specimen. On the underside the box is embossed with “Germany” and the number 369. In addition, the number 854 is applied in green. This clearly establishes the German origin; a specific manufacturer cannot be reliably identified from the markings alone. The combination of the soft cream-colored ceramic, the pronounced Art Deco colors, and the aged metal hardware gives this box a particularly authentic look. Beautiful as a collectible, but also very decorative in a vintage, Art Deco, Bauhaus, or eclectic interior. Additionally, there are localized minor scratches, discolorations, and wear. Wear and tear visible in the photos. The photos are an important part of the condition description. A charming and highly decorative piece of German domestic ceramics from the Art Deco period, with a pronounced design that is typical of the interwar period.
