Dulieu, Jean - 1 Original drawing - Paulus de Boskabouter...

Jan van Oort (1921 - 2006) designed during World War II the comic character Paulus the Boskapouter, whose adventures from 1946 were published in Het Vrije Volk. Van Oort called himself "Jean Dulieu" (the French translation of "Jan van Oort"). Beyond the 8,000 newspaper publications, Paulus appeared in color in a large number of magazines and children's books (translated and published in many countries). The watercolors Dulieu created for this are each small works of art. Dulieu was a versatile, multifaceted and virtuoso artist whose skill and talent kept pace with his pursuit of perfection. Jean Dulieu received many prizes for his work and is counted among the "Big Three": Marten Toonder, Hans G. Kresse and Jean Dulieu.
