-Original and unique work on a linen canvas. -Signature on the back, provided with a certificate of authenticity. DUO, born in 1981, is a Parisian artist whose early encounter with graffiti dates back to 1991, when he discovered, in his own neighborhood, an intervention by DARCO (FBI), a major figure in European graffiti. This appearance, a true 'visual shock', marks the starting point of a vocation. From 1998, DUO fully immersed himself in the world of writing, developing a self-taught practice nourished by more than two decades of intensive exploration of lettering. His work is anchored in the purest tradition of graffiti, in constant dialogue with the codes established by the pioneering New York and European artists. His travels across Europe and beyond, undertaken to paint in various urban environments and transport networks, deeply enrich his style and widen his visual vocabulary. His aesthetics were for a long time characterized by an attachment to the classic style, notably influenced by the New York and Berlin scenes. These graffiti experiences on trains, encounters and travel gradually build a signature that is both rigorous and energetic. Alongside this journey, DUO sees his works entering the art market from the early 2010s. He participates in several auctions, including a first notable sale at Pierre Bergé & Associates in 2013, attesting to the growing interest of collectors in his work. Today, DUO develops a more experimental and abstraction-oriented production on canvas, while preserving the same gestural intensity and quest for movement that characterized his interventions in urban space. His painting, now more introspective, extends and transforms the raw energy of graffiti into a contemporary plastic language.
