Dutch East India Company (VOC) – Nine Duits and One Half Duit – 18th Century – Lot of 10 A varied group of ten VOC coins, comprising nine duits and one half duit. The duits include issues bearing the arms of Zeeland, West Friesland, Gelderland, Utrecht and Holland. Identifiable examples include West Friesland 1780, Gelderland 1790, Utrecht 1755 and Zeeland 1744. The province and date of the half duit remain undetermined. The coins combine provincial heraldry with the interlaced VOC monogram of the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie, the Dutch East India Company. Their designs range from Zeeland’s lion rising above waves to West Friesland’s paired lions and Utrecht’s shield with lion supporters. This group illustrates the provincial diversity within the VOC coinage series: distinct regional arms paired with the company’s shared monogram. Verified main-type references for the duits: Holland KM 70; Gelderland KM 50; Utrecht KM 111; West Friesland KM 131; Zeeland KM 152.
