Dutch school (XIX) - Hollandse vissersschepen op woelige zee

Beautiful and atmospheric 19th-century maritime painting, executed in the style of the Dutch Romantic School (think of the style of Abraham Hulk Sr. or Johannes Christiaan Schotel). The artwork shows two fishing boats with billowed sails that defy the powerful elements of the sea under an impressive, dynamic cloudscape. The light on the splashing foam and the waves is rendered with great attention to detail. • Period: 19th century • Technique: Oil on panel • Panel dimensions with frame: 45 cm high by 56 cm wide • Frame: Including the monumental, classical gilded Baroque frame • Condition: The painting is in good, stable condition and has been professionally restored in the past. The gold-colored decorative frame shows slight, age-appropriate signs that contribute to the authentic character of the object. A beautiful, classic maritime piece that can be hung directly. Carefully and professionally packaged for safe, insured shipping.
