About the Dwarf Crocodile The Dwarf Crocodile (Osteolaemus tetraspis) is native to West and Central Africa and is recognized as the smallest extant crocodile species. Despite its modest size, it retains the formidable jaw strength, armored skull, and aquatic adaptations characteristic of its larger relatives. The skull reflects these features: a broad, short snout, reinforced cranial bones, and pronounced ridges along the jawline and skull roof. Its compact proportions conceal remarkable bite force and predatory capability. This balance of small size and functional strength gives the skull a distinctive, intense presence — accurately captured in this replica.
