Rings with curved ring bands, between the ends of which precious gemstones or pearls are presented, first appeared around 1900. Inspired by the dynamic forms of Art Nouveau, this jewellery fashion quickly became a great success. It is no wonder that such designs have remained fashionable right up to the present day, despite all other changes in taste. This ring, which has a brilliant cut diamond weighing 0.33 carats between its arms, was created in this tradition. It is made from 14-carat white gold. Fourteen small octagonal cut diamonds lend their fire to the swirling ring face. The ring was created around 1965. The cut of the diamonds and the solid white gold construction are characteristic of jewellery from this period. We have reproduced a page from the 1965 catalog of Houston Jewelers in Texas, which presents a comparable model on p. 11 under the letter "I". The ring came to us from the Rhineland.
