All auctions / Medals, Arms & Armour / E&A Neurdein (XIX) - Femme mauresque d'Oran

Circa 1880, 20x27 cm. "Moorish Woman of Oran", a very beautiful vintage albumen print, large format, in very good condition with preserved contrasts, gray tones, and level of detail from TTB to Superb, by E&A. Neurdein. The interest of this print is that it is not mounted on an album page or cardboard support, which is rare. Signed and captioned at the bottom of the print, in the negative. Rare subject, not posed, in situ. Worth framing. Will be shipped with its neutral pH sleeve (ideal for a collection in good condition). The Neurdein Brothers (Étienne and Antonin Neurdein) were French photographers and publishers active at the end of the 19th century. Based in Paris, they founded in the 1860s a major photographic workshop that quickly became one of the leading publishers of tourist and documentary images. The Neurdeins produced and distributed numerous photographs of monuments, cities and landscapes, in France as well as abroad, notably in Egypt, in North Africa and in the Near East.
