E. de Chasteigner (XVIII) - Natura morta con selvaggina - NO RESERVE

E. de Chasteigner (1794) – Still life with game – 18th century 1794 Oil on canvas Important French still life from the 18th century, signed E. de Chasteigner and dated 1794. The composition presents a rich hunting still life scene, with game and other elements arranged in an environment dominated by an intense dark background. The strong chiaroscuro, the warm palette in brown, ochre and reddish tones, and the monumental construction of the composition give the work a particularly scenographic presence. The signature "E. de Chasteigner" and the date "1794" are present directly on the painted surface. The work shows a surface with widespread craquelure, patina, and signs of time consistent with the painting’s age. The painting was restored in 1986 and comes from a private collection. A large-format work, particularly suitable to be featured as the main element in a classical, historic, or elegant contemporary setting.
