E. García - Islas canarias XL

"Islas Canarias" is a painting measuring 100 × 70 cm by the contemporary artist Ernest García. The work features a woman seated on a terrace facing the sea, dressed in an intense red printed dress. In front of her, a small table with an open book and a glass of wine introduces a scene of reading, rest and contemplation, while in the background a landscape of deep blue waters and mountainous reliefs stretches out. The composition is built through large planes of color and strong contrasts. The luminous red of the dress acts as the visual center against a broad range of cobalt blues, turquoises and ultramarine. The whites of the architecture bring light and recall coastal buildings, while the vegetation that descends from the top creates a natural frame around the scene. The brushwork is free, visible and expressive, with simplified shapes and a use of color that deliberately moves away from naturalism. The work connects with Fauvist and post-impressionist traditions, as well as with modern painting devoted to leisure, terraces and maritime landscapes, where figure and surroundings are integrated through color. "Islas Canarias" conveys an intense sense of summer, calm and escapism. The solitary figure facing the ocean turns the landscape into an intimate space of contemplation, making the work particularly attractive to collectors of contemporary figurative painting, coastal scenes, seascapes and chromatically strong compositions.
