Early 14th century, enamelled bronze heraldic banneret (rectangular flag)bearing the arms of Eleanor de Clare, 1292-1337 (wife of Hugh Dispenser the Younger), arms of Clare quartered Or, three chevronels gules, arms of the Plantagenets, Or three lions passant guardant, repeated on the opposite side, tapered shaft for attachment containing an iron rod allowing the banneret to rotate. Extremely fine condition with the red champleve enamel virtually intact, with much of the gilding remaining £800-£1,000.
