École Européene (XX), After John S. Sargent - Madame X - XXL

- Oil on canvas. Original canvas. - Madame X watches us from eternity with an alabaster profile and an aristocratic elegance that turned the 1884 scandal into the immortal triumph of the modern portrait. John Singer Sargent not only immortalized Virginie Gautreau’s pale complexion and aristocratic silhouette, but also captured the audacity of a woman who knew she was a spectacle, a challenge, and a mystery, standing on the boldness of an almost sculptural pose and the dramatic contrast of a black satin dress. That loose strap that in Paris Salon enraged bourgeois morality with its explicit sensuality — which Sargent had to repaint in its place — ended up consecrating the pose as an act of aesthetic rebellion: the categorical affirmation of a beauty that refuses to apologize and that, liberated from the judgment of its time, reigns impassively in the parnassus of world art. - Dimensions of the unmatted image: 88 x 163 cm / 102 x 177 cm with exclusive customized frame. At Montbaron Gallery, we are pleased to offer our clients an exclusive selection of artworks, all unique, original and unrepeatable. Certain lots, due to their age and value, require an export permit granted by the Ministry of Culture. Although it is an administrative procedure, it is essential to ensure the authenticity of the work and its free international circulation. Montbaron Gallery is committed to offering its clients original, unique, and unrepeatable artworks, guaranteeing the authenticity and quality of every piece in our collection. To ensure transparency and trust in each purchase, we offer a digital Certificate of Guarantee, signed by a certified art historian. This certificate attests that the purchased work has been authenticated by our specialists, who verify its authorship, origin, and condition. The Certificate of Guarantee includes full details about the piece, such as its author, creation date, technique used, and dimensions. The digital Certificate of Guarantee will be issued at the client's request, providing an official reference for the acquired piece. This document will be sent in digital format and signed by an art historian from our gallery, ensuring its validity and backing.
