Een hoofd van Boeddha, - Figurehead - Thailand (No reserve price)

The Buddha has a peaceful face with downcast, introspective eyes and a firm forehead. He has a large protrusion in the shape of a lotus bud on top of his head, symbolizing his high level of spiritual development. His earlobes are long from a youth he spent as a prince wearing heavy gold earrings. The carving is stunning, as you can see in the fine detail of the face. Every detail is rendered perfectly. Also particularly beautiful is the distinctive patina of the piece. This bronze Buddha head is an antique piece from Burma, displaying traditional casting techniques and serene facial features. It dates from the 1980s and reflects a calm and introspective expression, complete with vertically segmented hair and ring-shaped earlobes. - This bronze sculpture shows a rich, aged patina that contributes to its historical character. There is light rear-side damage, but given its age, the piece remains in good condition. Carefully packed and insured for shipment.
