Elegant Midcentury Dome Ring with Diamonds in Platinum, c. 1950s

Some jewellery designs are colorful and shine in the most beautiful hues. Others derive their charm precisely from the absence of colour. Like this ring: its design is large and magnificent - but its finesse is revealed through the finest nuances. The dome or bombé ring arches high above the finger. Fine, hand-pierced ornaments structure the surface and create a large blossom. A brilliant-cut diamond of half a carat occupies the center of the blossom. Around 1.45 ct smaller single-cut diamonds enliven the rest of the surface with white light. The dome shape places each diamond at a different angle to the light, creating a particularly beautiful interplay of reflections. The ring is of fine quality and reveals the high level of craftsmanship of its time. Based on its design and workmanship, we date it to the 1950s.
