Elegant Ring with a 1.06 ct Old-Cut Oval Diamond in Platinum, From Our Workshop

In this ring from our workshop, sparkling white brilliant-cut diamonds surround an unusual antique diamond: Its cut follows the basic shape of the old-cut style, but it is oval rather than round. An independent appraisal by the Gemmological Laboratory Austria has described its quality in more detail: It weighs 1.06 ct, is very clear (VS2), and has the very good colour Rare White+ (F). Diamonds have been and continue to be cut into various shapes. Today, however, round brilliant-cut diamonds dominate the market. Seeing a diamond in a different, non-round shape at the center of a ring is therefore rare and a welcome change. The proportions of the cut reveal that the diamond in this ring was cut c. 1900. We have surrounded the oval diamond with eleven brilliant-cut diamonds, all set in platinum. Two additional diamonds extend to the right and left toward the ring band. We designed the ring based on rings from the 1890s. The diamond entourage motif was very fashionable at that time. A total of 0.56 carats of brilliant-cut diamonds are set, in addition to the oval old-cut diamond in the center. This ring therefore features a total of 1.62 carats of diamonds. We crafted the ring entirely in Germany using recycled materials. All the diamonds in this ring were previously part of another piece of jewellery, so they are being reused here. Likewise, the platinum is reused from pieces of jewellery that we could no longer restore. The setting was custom-made for us in Pforzheim, and the diamonds were set in Idar-Oberstein.
