Elegant Ring with Morganite and Diamonds in Platinum, Handcrafted

Morganite, also known as rose beryl or the “pink emerald,” was discovered in Madagascar in 1910. George F. Kunz, chief gemologist at Tiffany & Co., named the new gemstone after the New York banker and art collector John Pierpont Morgan to honor his support of the natural sciences and museums. In fact, just a few years later, Pierpont Morgan bequeathed his extensive collection of precious gemstones to the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Morganite quickly became a true fashion gem, as its delicate pink colour perfectly complemented the fashion trends of the early 20th century. Whether it was the light blue of aquamarine, the fresh green of peridot, or the rose-petal pink of morganite—jewellery of that era sparkled with a preference for the delicate colours of fine gemstones. This ring from our workshop features a morganite and was created in the spirit of Art Deco jewelry design. Set in fine platinum and accompanied by a total of twelve vintage diamonds, the natural morganite shines brightly at its center in its characteristic, wonderful rosé hue. Our daily work with historic pieces of jewellery guided us in its design. We had it cast in platinum using traditional techniques and then finished by hand. The result is a modern ring that, with its delicate forms and high-quality craftsmanship, stands in the finest tradition of European jewelry art. The diamonds and platinum come from vintage pieces of jewellery and were intentionally repurposed. The morganite itself has been incorporated into a piece of jewellery for the first time.
