Elegant Ring with Natural Zircon and Brilliant-Cut Diamonds in Platinum

This platinum ring from our workshop features an exceptionally beautiful cubic zirconia as its centerpiece. The stone is framed by eleven brilliant-cut diamonds, while two additional diamonds on the right and left elegantly extend toward the ring band. The design is inspired by classic Belle Époque entourage rings, when gemstones surrounded by diamonds were among the most popular forms of jewelry. What makes this ring truly special, however, is the zircon at its center. Although its name might suggest otherwise, this gemstone has nothing in common with synthetic zirconia. Zircon is one of the oldest minerals on Earth. Some of its crystals formed more than four billion years ago. Zircon has been prized as a gemstone since ancient times, reached the height of its popularity in the early 20th century, and then gradually fell into obscurity—perhaps due to the similarity in name to synthetic zirconia. The precious zircon set here displays an unusual blue hue. Characteristic of zircon is its high refractive index and strong dispersion; hardly any other natural gemstone breaks down light so impressively into its spectral colors. This creates a lively sparkle that makes the stone shimmer with shifting shades of blue and rainbow reflections with every movement. The diamonds in the ring are vintage stones that we have deliberately reused here to make the piece of jewellery as sustainable as possible. Likewise, the platinum used comes from older pieces of jewellery that could no longer be restored. The cubic zirconia is set in a piece of jewellery for the first time here. Thus, this piece of jewellery from our workshop combines historical inspiration with an extraordinary gemstone and a contemporary vision of sustainability.
